South Wales & Somerset September 2008 - Day 1 - Wisemans Bridge
We had a call from a concerned site owner on the day before we left home, telling us that South Wales had suffered some very severe flooding in parts and to ask if we were still planning to travel?! Silly question - we don't let the weather win!
We were up bright and early at 6am on the Saturday and ready to leave at 7am. It rained/drizzled for most of the journey but it didn't dampen our spirits!
We arrived on site at Mill House Caravan Park, Pleasant Valley at 12noon to a very warm welcome - regardless of the weather! After pitching up we had some lunch and decided to kit up in our waterproofs and head off out in the rain (thankfully by then it was only drizzle!). We left the site and walked along the Miners Walk (a dis-used, flat, rail track once used by Welsh miners to transport iron from the Ironworks at Pleasant Valley to Saundersfoot) down to the beach at Wisemans Bridge. We checked out the Wisemans Bridge Inn (just to make sure they were doggie friendly of course!), where we later returned for our evening meal and a few pints!
