Porth, Newquay weekend - mid April 2010

Another evening spent in the Mermaid Inn (more food, more cider and more footie!) and another stunning sunset.

The skies were blue again Sunday morning and we had another visitor to our pitch!

After breakfast and a short walk across to the beach we packed up and headed home, happy that we'd enjoyed what turned out to be the warmest weekend of 2010 ......... so far!

Hi Sharon
glad to hear you had a lovely time and nice weather.
well.... your photos and post brought back lots of memories - we holidayed every year from 1990 to 1999 with the girls in Newquay! We used to stay at a small family hotel just along the road from Lusty Glaze beach so know both LG and Porth beaches very well. I also must admit to knowing the Mermaid pub very well too! lol. In 2008 Paul and I took the MH and stayed at Mawgan Porth and last year went to C & CC site at Tregurrian and walked on the coast path to Porth, had a lovely lunch at an Italian style place near to Porth park - is it still open?
off to Chatsworth for the weekend fingers crossed it stays dry.

Hi Jane
We too holidayed in Porth for years. First at the Gull Rock Hotel and later at the Porth Beach Hotel (both now sadly turned into horrible modern apartments). Our first every holiday together (back in 1986!) was to Newquay and the first beach we came across was Porth. We also looked at a little cottage to buy there before buying in Bude so it holds very fond memories for us, it always feels like we are going home when we go there! Yeah, there's a bistro style place just outside the campsite - it was closed at the weekend though. Thankfully the Mermaid wasn't! LOL
Enjoy Chatsworth in the DRY weather Jane.
Take Care, x
