Fowey back to Bodinnick: After a fish & chip lunch in Fowey and a wander around the town we headed back to Bodinnick via the car ferry. The white building on Bodinnick side is Ferryside, previously owned and lived in by Daphne Du Maurier.

Polruan to Fowey: On arrival in Polruan we found a pub for a nice warming coffee before heading off round the headland, through the little streets, to Polruan castle. After spending more time exploring the tiny streets we caught the little passenger ferry (takes 12 people only) across to Fowey.

Autumn Colours: The trees had just started to change colour in places and there were signs of Autumn everywhere. The pathways were covered by leaves and empty chestnut shells!!!

Bodinnick-near-Fowey - Day 2: We woke up to glorious Autumn sunshine and after our breakfast decided to do the National Trust's Hall Walk (4 miles). It starts at Bodinnick Village and runs around the estuary and through National Trust woodland via Pont to Polruan.......and it was fabulous. A bit hilly in places but nothing too daunting.

Bodinnick-near-Fowey - arrival day (Friday pm): After a short trip (approx 1 hour) from home we arrived at our campsite to a friendly welcome from the owner and his two dogs (who Paddy loved running around the site with!). After choosing our pitch and levelling the camper up we headed for the boat park and pontoon (owned by the campsite). It was a lovely area on the estuary with a little beach and picnic tables overlooking the river, houses and Fowey Docks.

From there we took the public footpath across the field (full of sheep...........and poo...........Paddy heaven!!!!!!!) to Bodinnick village. This is where the car ferry runs across to Fowey. The Old Ferry Inn sits up the hill overlooking the river and Fowey so we decided to try the local ales and ciders before heading back to the campsite. On the way back we spotted a buzzard and I was lucky enough to catch him on camera!

An Autumn Trip:.............and here I was thinking that our next camper trip would be Easter 2008!!! As the weather seems to be holding out, and is still relatively mild for October, we decided to sneak a quick weekend trip away. We're off to Fowey, on the South coast of Cornwall, for 2 nights tomorrow. Pictures of our trip will be posted on this blog on our return! In the meantime, here is a short video clip of Paddy..........bringing the custard jug back after he'd 'cleaned it'!!!!! Clever boy eh?
