Christmas in St Ives 2009 - Boxing Day
Our last day on site. We awoke to the sound of heavy rain and hale on the camper roof - the sound of camping!!!!
The weather was very changeable all day long.
We did however manage to walk down into St Ives without getting wet,via Porthmeor beach again, where the brave, or stupid, surfers were enjoying their Boxing Day surf! We had a lovely pub lunch overlooking the harbour in the Lifeboat Inn.
We went back down into town that evening to watch the football in the Lifeboat Inn, this time we got a soaking on the way back to the campsite!!!!
Well, we can honestly say that this was one of the best Christmases we've had and we are looking forward to doing the same next year!
Happy New Year to all our 'avid' readers! Here's to more camping in 2010!
Christmas in St Ives 2009 - Christmas Day
After breakfast we took Paddy for a walk in the sunshine. We couldn't have wished for better weather for Christmas Day. It was blue, sunny and quite mild compared to the weather we'd had just a few day before.
We spotted a rainbow over Porthmeor beach on the way down.
Again, there were quite a few people wandering around the town and harbour area.
Christmas in St Ives 2009 - Christmas Day
We awoke to glorious blue skies on Christmas Day (just how it should be!). The view from the camper window during breakfast was just what we had dreamt of!
After a bit of a lay-in (as you do!) and breakfast Paddy wore himself out opening all his presents (and everyone elses!).
Christmas in St Ives 2009 - Christmas Eve
After putting up our Christmas tree and decorating the camper (!) we walked into St Ives.
The light was fading but I managed to get a few photos.
There were loads of people around, all having just finished work for the festive period and most heading into the pubs!
We headed in the same direction and spent the evening in the Sloop Inn. We had a lovely steak meal with pudding washed down with far too much cider (me not Mike!). I can't even remember walking up the hill back to the camper - maybe that's a good thing?
Christmas in St Ives 2009 : Christmas Eve
After a very eventful year for us we had booked a short 'get away from it all' break over the Christmas period in our motorhome on our favourite Cornish campsite - Ayr Holiday Park in St Ives. We had carefully chosen our hardstanding, all singing-all dancing, pitch which turned out to have been a good thing to do as most of the UK was either under inches of snow or skating around on sheets of ice!
We had put the heating on low in our camper for 6 days prior to our departure so as not to have any mishaps with frozen pipes etc.
After finishing work at lunchtime we headed off down the A39 towards St Ives and arrived on site mid afternoon.
We pitched up along with the other hardy-campers (mostly motorhomers!).
